Mosaic Monday

There are always a number of projects on the go around here. I sometimes wish that I were interested in just one thing. But I like to try almost everything. And I usually end up enjoying it.

Creating with my hands is innate. I can't stop. If I don't create with fabric, thread or paper, I'll create with food or flowers. I'd be the one on the desert island arranging rocks in patterns.

Today's mosaic is a collection of projects made thus far in 2010. These are the small ones. The bigger ones, like painting and renovating, are not included.

Now in the fall is when my creative juices really get going. My mind whirls with possibility. I've started a couple of projects which will have to wait to be shown as the eventual owners read this blog.

Creativity takes so many, many forms. My husband doesn't think of himself as creative at all, but I know differently. Our home is filled with beautiful furniture lovingly hand made (maybe that should be a post for another Mosaic Monday). Words, paint, plants, food, dance - creativity knows no bounds.

How about you? Do you find yourself having to express your personality in some way? What do you do that's creative?

  1. Like you, I have to be doing something creative. My favorite 'craft' is making cards. The act of sitting, surrounded by pretty things, and putting them together in lovely patterns, is my solace, my peace, my joy. Since I can't be making cards most of the time, then I do other things. Lately my basket of cotton yarn and crochet hooks has been going everywhere with me, and I am making hand made cotton dish cloths. My mother has 2 surgeries coming up - one next Monday, and the Monday after that - to have cataracts removed. That basket will be my companion while I sit and wait. It is comforting and joyful, all at once. Great post! Becky

  4. Pretty, pretty mosaic of all your beautiful projects. I'm not at all like you; I just wish that I were. The mood must descend and then I want nothing more than to be in my craft room, but it descends less and less often the busier I become with other concerns. I take it that you are already preparing for Christmas...

  5. What a beautiful collection. I have first-hand experience with your creativity - lovely treasures you make.
When I was in Abbotsford I bought fabric to make my grandniece a dress, and more fabric to make myself a little lap quilt - I too get anxious to busy myself at home at this time of year.

  7. Hi Lorrie,

You are a very creative woman (wonderful mosaic, btw). Dorothy loves her journel and uses it regularly.

As a little girl, i always had something in my hands. I am happiest when i am working on something. I've had quite a few "duds" but even then I enjoyed the process of working on something.

You know, I have so many doilies that my grandma made. You have inspired me to do something with them. your table runner is very unique and lovely.

It was such a surprise when Jeff called. What a gift!

    big hugs,
    Barb

  8. Fall is my time too. Everything from cooking to sewing and embroidery. Sometimes I find it hard to read a book, because I really want to do something with my hands. Lots of ideas always going. Now I have to figure out what I'm making as Christmas gifts this year. I better get a move on :)
