Reflections

We put up the Christmas tree last night. Always real. A Charlie Brown variety - no pesticides, locally grown. I turned the lights on the tree this morning to dispel some of the gloom of this wet, windy day and was struck by the reflections in the rain-spattered window.

Yesterday we received word that one of my aunts, my mom's sister, passed away, suddenly but not unexpectedly. And at the same time, we await news from our son and daughter-in-law about the impending birth of our grandchild. I am struck once again by the juxtaposition of life and death in this world we live in. One life diminishes, another begins. I am so thankful that I can put my hope and trust in the God who created heaven and earth, who counts each sparrow and who cares for each one of us.

  1. Profound thoughts for the day...

I know that you await the birth of a granchild with eager anticipation. Oh the days can be so long when waiting for the newest members of the family to arrive.

May your family know the comfort of the Lord in this time and I'm also thinking of your own sister and her daughter-in-law and grandchildren who are celebrating this season without someone very special.

    What a dreamy photo...

Love the reflection of the tree in te window and some symbolism of light and darkness. My daughter is supposed to have her baby next month and my MIL died this year also. So I know what you are saying. I am glad that God knows what he is doing and loves us so greatly. I am so glad he is a self communicating God!

  3. I'm sorry to hear about your aunt, Lorrie. I was thinking of you today and wondering when we'd hear word about your first grandchild - soon, I hope!
Your tree and its reflection are lovely. I can't wait to put ours up.

  4. Great shot of the tree & lights reflected in the window and the shiny, wet street outside.
Sorry to hear about your Aunt's passing.
    Maggie.
