A Matter of Perspective

It just sits there. A log washed up on shore. Impossible to move.

Huge from any angle. Looking more closely I see more character.

Openings. A way through.

Just choose the path.

Look closely.

Look past the immediate to see the mosaic beyond.

A post written in frustration over a paper I'm working on. Political Science is NOT my thing (and taken only to fulfill a requirement.)

Little by little. Word by word, or, as Anne Lamott says, Bird by Bird.

Back to my Word document.

  1. Oh Lorrie, I get it - I do! Sometimes we look so long and hard at something that we don't see the way through, around or past
I hope you're soon finished with the Poli Sci that is just to fulfill a requirement!

  2. I see what you see. It's going to be okay. (I always want someone to tell me it's going to be okay so I'm telling you that. I think you know it just as I do.) There's always a way through. That log looks like some old beast...a crocodile or alligator or something.

  5. Political Science would be a tough one for me, too. Praying you find His grace proves more than sufficient for you.

  7. Petit a petit, Lorrie. the Bretons say this constantly, and life just ambles along here.
Your log has a face, did you know?

  8. From the first pic I thought it was a crocodile!

My sympathy with you - I couldn't do a paper on political science. I'm nodding off even as I write... :) xx

  9. Neat post. And, you are taking a college course? s.c.a.r.y. Not sure my brain could do that again.

  10. By now you have likely found a way through...or around...in order to meet all your requirements. Good luck with that one!

  11. A première vue, je pensais que ce long bout de bois flotté était une baleine ! (mais une petite alors)
Bon courage pour ton devoir en science politique... ça n'a pas l'air passionnant, mais tu seras immensément soulagée quand tu auras fini !

  14. One foot in front of the other and I know you'll be out the other side in two shakes of a lambs tail!
Love the pix, the log looks like a walrus or seal or some other sea creature to me.
Hope you have a great (study free) weekend.

  18. I like this post. The first pic I thought looked somewhat like a whale. Then when I got to the last one, I was looking into its eye...

Glad you're done with your paper!

  19. God is in the details, alright.

I'm assuming you've made it through your paper by now and the semester is ending soon, yeah! My son will be graduating with a Political Science degree in less than a month. To each his own, huh?
