Pondering the nature of spam, and a few snippets of my weekend plans

Have you ever checked your Blogger Spam folder? I do, on occasion. And I have to scratch my head pondering the nature of the creators of Spam. What does anyone get out of it? Why? I'm baffled.

Here are some comments I pulled from my Spam folder.

"Wow, this piece of writing is good, my sister is analyzing these kinds of things, therefore I am going to inform her."

She's analyzing how I decorate my house? Hmmm. Or how about this one?

"Asking questions are actually pleasant thing if you are not understanding something entirely, however this post provides pleasant understanding yet."

Pleasant understanding about a baby shower? I'm glad I could help. And one more...

"I wish to apprentice whilst you amend your website."

Am I amending my website? I didn't think so. Is this a hint to do so? Or mere gratuitous flattery so I'll click on their link and be taken to some surreptitious site selling something I am
NOT interested in.

Outside my window today there is a tiny bit of frost on the roofs. But the sun is shining and I'm going for a walk later with the Little Misses and their mothers.

Almost all of the leaves are off the trees. Tomorrow's task will be raking the leaves under the plum tree. I realized recently that's the only deciduous tree we have. The others are evergreens.

I have not taken many photos recently, because of teaching this week. I hope to remedy the photo situation this week. The above were taken last year, in Parksville. Hard to believe that last year at this time we still didn't know we were moving back here.

Around the house the washer just sang its little tune telling me I need to change the loads. Bathrooms need cleaning, there is vacuuming to be done, and my cup of tea is empty so it's time to get moving.

I hope your day is full of satisfying things. What are your plans?

  1. I've got a slow day planned, having already had a run in the gorgeously crisp morning. Visiting a girlfriend for tea in a while, reading, a bit of marking . . . a much-needed catch-up-and-breathe day. Enjoy your walk with your little one.

  3. That blue, blue sky which always seems clearer and crisper when there's a little frost in the air - how wondrous our Creator is!

Yes I do check my spam - and I will never get to grips with a spammers inane thoughts - they're a very sad lot.

I have a 3 week work assignment at the mo and things have been sliding a little at home, so I have a busy weekend ahead catching up - that's the downside of working!

  4. I get one post spammed a lot. I have changed it's title, I think I may even have removed it, but still get strange messages about it. Yes spamming is a deep mystery to me.

I hope not to have too busy of a weekend, but there are several planned gatherings. And warm weather.

  6. I looked at my spam folder a few days ago. I was amazed at how many odd little messages were there, often from the same source. Three cheers for the wonderful filter that catches them before they can get added to a post's comment section.

I hope you had a lovely walk. (By the way, I send the biscuit info. you requested to the email attached to this blog.)

  8. Yes, those spam comments are...ummm...interesting? They sound a tiny bit like real sentences, but the thoughts are so disjointed and every once in a while a random word or two is tossed in. Odd.

My day was both lovely and tiring. Lovely because my mom, sister, daughter, and I went on an annual Mother/Daughter Christmas Shopping Trip. We (Mom, my sister Linda, and I, at least) have been having these shopping trips for 40+ years. (Yikes!) But it was also tiring. Because we are all older? Yep! (Exception being 19-year-old Kati who seemed to fare the best!)

    Weekend blessings to you!

  9. It tok me a while to actually find my Spam folder, but it had similar things in it, not worth reading....except a letter from 'Nicolas Sarkozy'. Hmmm!

  10. Sometimes the newspapers report someone has found a note in a bought pie. Someone on the pie factory conveyor belt got bored and wanted human contact so put the note in the pie. I think the same could be said for those who create spam. They are very bored humans needing to know they're contacting others somehow.
Have a great weekend. I have a dress rehearsal for Blithe Spirit. Costumes are beautiful. xx

  11. These spam comments really are too funny.

Acc. to them I must be the world’s wisest woman and the most accomplished blogger ever.

Do they really think we will click on their link?

  12. Are you still getting that much spam? Oh dear. Inane comments such as those are usually from elsewhere, aren't they? Someplace where they don't quite know the language or syntax.

Such lovely photo taking...the crisp leaves against the blue, blue sky and the rails taking us right down the line. Hope that you enjoyed a lovely walk with the grandgirlies and their mommies and that you'll enjoy more this weekend.

  13. Well, it's 1:00 in the afternoon, and I have not accomplished very much. Saturday is my Baking Day. (Okay, any day might see something getting baked, but I am trying to be intentional about getting my bread done on Saturday.
And it's a gorgeous sunny day here, and I need to be intentional about getting out and walking around in it. The fresh air and natural beauty prescription, you know: Good for What Ails You!

  14. I think the spam people just get a perverse enjoyment of leaving a mark, maybe something like graffiti.
