One more week

Around 8:30 last night Tim and I went for a walk. A light rain began to fall. The rain thickened and when seen through a street light, looked like .... could it be? .... Yes! Snow! At the return point in our walk, fat flakes splatted against our jackets.

This morning, you can see the snowy scene above. Not very impressive. We'll take what we can get. It's chilly out there. A good day to stay indoors, finishing up some gifts and doing some baking. That's on my schedule for today.

I looked at this old toy tractor, all metal and rubber, and the wooden trailer fashioned by Tim years ago, and thought it might add a fun touch to the Christmas decor. It normally sits on the piano, but the light is dark there and the music stand blocks the view a little. So I moved it to the dining room table for a photo op, and then thought how it looks like a snowy road.

One week until Christmas! Are you counting the sleeps in anticipation?

  2. Sweet little red tractor. It makes wonderful Christmas decor. Your evening walk in the rain turned snow sounds very adventurous of you two. Were you looking for lights or just enjoying the fresh air and exercise?

Our snow is already ruined by the rain, but then we're supposed to be getting more starting tomorrow. There have been very few Christmases in my life without snow. Two in Arizona and probably that many right here in Maine. I prefer snow. (It can melt the day after and I'd not be distressed.)

  8. Lorrie,

I really like the little tractor and how it's transporting the greenery. One more thing, I made rugelach using your recipe, but they appear to have evaporated. :) A second batch may be in order. They are delicious so thanks again for the recipe. Merry Christmas!

  11. A few inches of very slushy snow here -- hard to be happy about as it really doesn't even look pretty. Still, I suppose there will be children getting excited about it and perhaps away from traffic it might suggest a wintry wonderland . . . I'd prefer to stick with the table-top landscape you've made -- linen snow is much easier to navigate in. ;-)
