Sisters

Growing up, we were not very close. Although just 13 months apart in age, our personalities are very different. As a child she played outdoors while I had my nose stuck in a book. She is blond, I am brunette. She is outgoing, I am much less so. She loves being out and about, I'm more of a homebody. I was a bossy older sister and not very nice at times.

Now, mostly grown up, we have much in common and can enjoy each others' company. Today is my sister's birthday, and I'm so proud of her. She's been dealt some tremendous blows in the past few years, yet she smiles and carries on. Her faith in God is strong. In 2009, the two of us, along with our mother, went to Europe. Here, my sister and I are in Bratislava, standing close together.

Happy Birthday, Sis, I love you.

  2. Lorrie dear, I'm certain your time together these days is full of sisterly love and friendship, making up for what you may not have shared as youngsters. Enjoy the times you can spend together, days, months years disappear quickly and regret is always sad.
Sis looks like a lovely lady - for those without a sis, such as me, a little envy here, I always wanted one too!

Happiest of birthdays to a lovely lady. The photo of you both is great.

    Hugs - Mary

  3. Hi Lorrie,
Great snap of the two of you, I'm so happy for you that you are close as adults even though that wasn't the case as children.
Sadly, my sister and I aren't close at all and that isn't entirely due to the fact that she lives in Australia!

  5. How interesting. I could have written this except I am nearly four years older than my blond, outgoing, outdoorsy sister.

  6. A very happy birthday to your sister. I'm glad you enjoy each other for who you are now. I have 3 sisters and we are all different from each other. One is a blond by choice LOL!

  9. Happy Birthday to your lovely sister. I am so glad you are close. I find it amazing how different sisters can be, but I am glad you have found lots to love and admire in each other. There is nothing thicker than blood and that common history.

  10. Lorrie, you are so blessed to have a sister. As the youngest of four, and the only girl, it's probably no surprise that "Little Women" was my favorite book! ;)

I was blessed with two daughters and that was quite literally a dream come true!

    Love,
    Tracey
