An Impromptu Picnic

It was one of those Sunday afternoons when it seemed like summer would linger forever, the golden sunshine pouring down on rocks, sand, and sea.

The blue of the ocean melded into the blue sky with only a thin line of blue mountains between. Sere grass golden against swirled cloud blue. A good day for a picnic with a view.

Wind-patterned water smooth, then dimpled with big boats, little boats and medium-sized boats going here and there, to and fro, barely visible in all the great blueness.

Fort Rodd Hill - a national park of Canada right here in our city. Summer day, summer day. Achingly beautiful summer day.

  1. Such gorgeous summer scenes! Impromptu picnics are the very best kind, I think. No fretting over what to pack or last minute running to the store...

  5. So lovely, Lorrie . . . I've been there once, but long for a return visit as we did not see everything. 'Twas a rainy day and we packed it in early.

  16. Ohhhhh I've been there, and after 4 hours of teenaged boredom we finally got to visit the lighthouse. Now I would love to go and visit again as a adult.

    You got some great shots.

  20. Oh, Lorrie, your photos are stunning. I think your photog skills improve all the time. You have a very artistic eye.
I have been a little out of the bloggy loop, and neglecting my bloggy friends, but I have been lurking quite a bit. I love your dining room project, the chairs look fabulous. And I especially love your dahlias, perfect for a new header. I stuck 8 potted dahlias in the ground at the beginning of the summer, and I am considering lifting the bulbs. They didn't have a great summer, something kept eating some of them, and my dog dug up one...but I did have some blooming.
Thanks for visiting me and leaving comments. It always makes my day.

  22. So beautiful!

My husband's mother is from Orangeville, Ontario. All of her family that are not in Africa working as missionaries, are still living in Canada. We love visiting the family cottage, and spending time in Canada.
