Sunny Skies and Happy Birthday to Me

Our walk on Sunday afternoon took us to the Songhee's Walkway, which winds along the shoreline of Victoria's Harbour. The light slanted low and brilliant across the water, refracting, reflecting, illuminating everything in late October gold. It was as if Summer gave a long glance backward, unwilling to leave the party. Cool air and coloured leaves signified Autumn's presence, but Summer dominated.

I didn't mean to be mysterious in my last post - Tim has a conference to attend in Vancouver this week, so I took the opportunity to tag along. We're staying with our daughter and son-in-law, very near Stanley Park and English Bay, so I'm hoping for a long walk along the Seawall. This morning, my birthday, I lay in bed while Ashley cooked a lovely, lovely breakfast - a Apple-Leek-Spinach-Blue Cheese Quiche with an Onion Confit. And a bit of bacon on the side, along with fresh fruit and tea. So luxurious.

Blogging has been a bit slow, but I hope to get back to reading and commenting - I'm missing reading what you've all been up to. Thank you for all the birthday greetings on my last post.

Happy, Happy Birthday, dear Lorrie!! I'm out of the loop, too; I'm taking a little blog break. But I'm still reading my blogroll (can't resist). When I saw your post come up, I just had to leave you a comment. Both of your photos are lovely. I LOVE the pretty boats and all the reflections in the water. You have a wonderful time of the year for a birthday -- fall is my favorite!

Have a wonderful week and enjoy your vacation!

Warm hugs,

Denise at Forest Manor

Happy birthday, Lorrie!
Wow. So beautiful. Look at all the leaves on those trees! The leaves are gone here and our sunny skies included snow this week. Gotta love the prairies. ;o)

First & foremost, Happy, Happy Birthday to you.
I enjoyed another glimpse of your beautiful island. Looks like a lovely place for a walk.
Your daughter is taking very good care of you. Her quiche is almost too pretty to cut into.
Stanley Park... now I'm getting jealous. Enjoy!

I love that phrase "Summer taking a long look backwards …" That has happened here too. Your photo just speaks those words as well! What a lovely spot. I'm glad you're being spoiled a bit. Somehow I missed your last post, but wishing you a very happy birthday!

I almost missed it.............I'm so tired tonight (off to bed in the next 5 mins.) from getting the house back together after yesterday's flooring installation, that I wasn't going to check in. Glad I did so I can wish you HAPPY BIRTHDAY and many, many more. You deserve a lovely day, week, month, year..........and celebrating in Vancouver is the way to go!

Hugs - Mary

Oh my! That sounds delicious but what sounds luxurious isn't just the dish but the fact that someone made you breakfast. Now, that is luxurious. And, you didn't have to pay them to do it! (as in a restaurant) I'm going to have to look up confit. Sadly, another term I do not know. :)

No apologies necessary! I, too, have been almost too busy for commenting of late (31-day series!), so I feel as if I am lagging too. But our blogging community is a rather forgiving lot, and there are no rules. :)

So, enjoy your mini vacation, enjoy the gracious hospitality of your daughter and son-in-law...and we'll "see" you when you return!

Happy (belated) birthday!!

I've been away this past week and missed wishing you a happy birthday. How sweet that you got treated for breakfast like that. Too bad you had rain for your trip across to Vancouver.
