A Seaside Stroll

Water views or gardens? This was the question we asked our visitor from Alberta today. Water won out, so we headed to Sidney-by-the-sea for a sunny afternoon walk. No formal gardens, but lots of spring blossoms lined the pathway. Aren't the daffodils gorgeous?

Daffodils and crocuses, yes, but tulips, too, in the first week of March. Pure delight.

The Pier Bistro perches on the end of the dock with a clear view of Mt. Baker across the water. Crab cakes with salad made a delicious lunch for me; Tim and Janet had crab cakes and seafood chowder. The restaurant is small but very busy, a sure sign of good food.

Tall masts reflected in the water in the marina. I thought of so many of my fellow bloggers still battling snow and cold. I'd like to waft a little of this gorgeous sunshine across the continent, but will have to be content with sharing photos. Take heart, spring is coming!

  1. Lovely photos Lorrie! I would vote for a walk by the sea also knowing how gorgeous it is. Enjoyed seeing the view of Mt. Baker--so miss visits to BC and Washington state.
    Blessings, Aimee
PS: Noticed our blueberries are starting to bloom now. Cannot believe this spring-in-winter weather:)

  8. What a tough decision that would be. So much beauty to be found in your area as you have illustrated so well here today. This is a most encouraging post for those still in the grips of winter.
My daffodils are sporting plump buds and our predicted warmer weather should have them open in no time. Can't wait.

  18. Water won out, but with its share of blooms, so it's a win-win, no? Oh, those tulips, little pink ambassadors of spring! Crab cakes by the sea, how perfect can that be?!

    Have a lovely week, Lorrie!

  19. So nice to get some time with Janet! I would most likely chosen the water views as well. Enjoying forsythia, hellebores and hyacinth here in Surrey. The crocus clumps have finished their show, my daffs and tulips are a little slower.

Beauty everywhere! I was also noticing the snow capped Mountain in the distance-spectacular views.

  24. What a delightful seaside stroll. We're glad you invited us to join you.

Although the day here was beautiful and very springlike, we still have a long way to go before we see daffodils or tulips -- lots of snow that is melting.

Wishing you a lovely week ahead...

  26. Spring is looking lovely in your corner by the sea! It seems that those of us who are enjoying early spring are feeling almost guilty as we watch the weather on the east coast of the continent.

  30. Enjoyed taking your stroll with you. I will be sharing my seashore images soon too. I had the worst time getting onto your site. Guess Google wanted to do a security check-up right when I came for a visit. I tried a half dozen codes before finding out what they were up to...whew ;)
