Beautiful Blues

What kind of blogs do you read? My blog list includes "slice of life" blogs much like I write, with a focus on finding beauty and pleasure in the ordinary things of life, but I also enjoy reading blogs about food, fashion, travel, photography and more.

Several weeks ago a black box tied with a ribbon arrived in my mailbox. I knew what it contained and could hardly wait to open it.

One of my favorite fashion blogs is The Vivienne Files, written by Janice. Her posts are full of wonderful ideas on how to have a coordinated wardrobe that will give you the clothes you want when you want and/or need them.

She held a giveaway for the scarf above, from KathKath in the UK, for one lucky reader. I was so surprised and pleased when my name was chosen. This scarf is lovely to touch and even more lovely to wear.

It will go well with my wardrobe - largely based on black, grey, navy, and blue. At first I wondered how I would wear this scarf in the heat we've had, but I saw a woman in town wearing a scarf as I'm doing above and thought, "I can do that!"

Janice provided another idea recently - tie a knot in the center of the scarf and use it as a necklace. Click on the link for more details.

Thank you to Janice and to KathKath for this beautiful scarf. It's a an addition to my wardrobe that will be worn often and will take any outfit up a notch or five.

  3. I do enjoy wearing scarves sometimes as necklaces though I don't wear them as much in the summer even though I have some light cotton ones. Still seems hot just thinking of it. Yours looks lovely.

  9. You look lovely wearing that scarf. It adds a bit of classic pizzazz to your outfit.

I like so many different kinds of blogs, but I have not one fashion blog in the batch. Typical of me.

  10. That's a beautiful look, both you, your blue dress, and the lovely scarf!

I love all kinds of blogs too!

  11. Well don't you look beautiful in your blue dress and pretty, new scarf?! What a lucky giveaway win, Lorrie.
I also want to say what a lovely flavor combo the apricots and rosemary sound in your previous post. Aren't you so creative? One of my favorite things is homemade jams...mmmm.

  13. How fabulous to win the scarf. It certainly looks lovely on you. I don't wear scarfs in the summer ,but love them tied in a knot worn as a necklace to brighten up a dull day.

  15. It is a beautiful scarf and looks lovely on you! I just wore a scarf the other day - which I don't normally do in summer - and discovered like you that it is possible! A great giveaway that definitely went to a good home! xx

  17. Very pretty scarf and a nice way to wear it in the warmer months. Congratulations on your win.
I think I remember you mentioning the Vivienne Files before. I need to get over there and check it out. My blog reading covers a fairly large range, but in the end my favorites are the slice of life variety too.

  18. I love scarves. I don't wear them all that often though because they take a little extra effort to get situated and I'm usually short on that time and effort when getting ready, ha! But, my little ones are doing sooo much more for themselves that I am finding more time.

  19. Scarves are my favorite accessory. As I have a long neck they serve a dual purpose - they keep me warm and a little more fashionable. I have to say Lorrie, that you seem to win a lot of giveaways! How fun! What's your secret?

  20. Absolutely lovely...beautiful colors! You know that I steer more towards those bloggers who, like you and me, love to capture the beauty of creation. I also am into fashion and scarves but have trouble wearing them in the hot summer months, although I love the look. I wish I was blessed with a long neck where I could wear them more comfortably. You look so pretty in yours! :)

  23. The scarf is lovely but I enjoy getting anything from the UK! I think my favorite blogs are cottage living. My blog reading has dwindled over the many years. Instagram seems to be where I connect better with ladies now and the UK friends cottage living are my favorites.
