Aged Beauty

One tulip petal falls onto the windowsill, then another. Two remain, arched protectively over stamens and pistil.

Withering into wild and graceful curves. Swirling lines. Deepening colour.

Beauty is not just for the young and fresh.

"A thing of beauty is a joy forever"
John Keats

  16. Written and photographed so nicely. I have a little bouquet of pink tulips very much the same and they just started to drop petals. I leave them...they add to the charm!

  18. Lovely. You structure a nice argument for aging gracefully. Keats is a favorite poet. He died much too young. I missed the post on lemon curd, amazed that you can grow lemons were you are and this time of year. Or is it inside? Fresh lemons, a rare treat for sure.

  20. I absolutely love aging tulips. My husband always wonders why I leave them a few days longer and the petals start falling, but they are beautiful. Your photos are just wonderful.
