Teacup Exchange

It was lovely to receive a parcel in the mail from Sharon, in Ontario with many pretty things, including the teacup above. It's from Paragon, with pink and blue bachelor's buttons on it. I love the shape and the colours.

I'm a firm believer that tea tastes best from a bone china mug or teacup. Do you think the material of the cup makes a difference?

Here are some of the other things Sharon included: pretty vintage crocheted items, embroidered linens, lovely pink candles, and a great selection of teas that I'm trying out.

Thank you so much, Sharon. Sharon doesn't have a blog, so I hope she reads this. I've sent a thank you note in the mail, as well.

Stephanie, from The Enchanting Rose, organizes a teacup exchange one or two times per year. I think around 200 ladies took part this time. That's a lot of organizing. Thanks, Stephanie. If you click on the link, you'll be taken to a page where you can see the exchanges from all over the world.

    What a pretty teacup!
You are entirely correct about tea/coffee tasting better in a china cup/mug. My grandfather always said that and for years, I didn't care, but then I noticed that he was right! Now my friends laugh when I turn up at our weekly sewing group with my china mug for our lunchtime coffee. :-)
Really enjoy your blog - love to see Canadian blogs. I live in Ontario and enjoy seeing your photos of beautiful B.C.
    Blessings,

  7. Wow that's a teacup PLUS exchange. I'm enjoying all the teacup exchange posts. I agree, tea is best drunk from china mug or cup.

  8. I like drinking tea from bone china too. It DOES taste better! And look at that gorgeous teacup you received, and all the loving handmade items! Such joy all wrapped up in these packages :)

  9. Wow...that is a big tea-cup exchange! You did well. :) And yes, tea is best served in a china tea-cup.

  10. I always prefer a china cup or mug. Somehow a thick mug is not the same. What a pretty cup, Cornflowers are favourites of mine.

  11. What a lovely package. I've never met a Paragon teacup that I didn't like! I'm in agreement that tea tastes better in a bone china cup! Yet, I still use my mugs regularly because they're more convenient for work.

  12. Oh yes, I do believe tea tastes better in a fine bone China tea cup. :)
Such a lovely gift you have received.

    Enjoy your treasures ♡

  13. Now that is an impressive turnout for the tea cup exchange. You were gifted with a very pretty tea cup and saucer along with many other treats.
I have slowly been paring down my collection of my mom and mother-in-law's tea cups. As pretty as they are, we never use them. They can be a bit challenging for those of us who weren't blessed with steady hands.

Lorrie, how delightful! What gorgeous colors on your teacup! Wow - 200 ladies participated. Stephanie is amazing at organizing this!

  15. I hae to agree that tea tastes better in fine china and not china imported from China. Besides I worry about lead content (no proof) in the imported porcelain cups, not to mention that they chip more easily. So yes, I confess to being a tea cup snob. Love your beautiful cup.

  16. Yep, I think tea tastes better in a bone china or china cup and saucer. It's more fun to drink it out of a cup and saucer too. I like all your pretty things. I love being part of Stephanie's exchanges.

  18. That's a lovely teacup and yes, I do think it makes a difference what you put your tea in to drink it.. I prefer china. delicate china.

  19. Wow, that is a lot of ladies. You are the 4th or 5th blogger I've visited who have shared their cup. Fun. I do enjoy tea in a tea cup. If it's in a mug I prefer clear glass mugs for tea, not the typical coffee mug. Have a good day!

  21. Lorrie, how fun! I will participate one of these years! Yes, I prefer a cup and saucer, but have in recent years taken to a mug (with loose leaf black tea in stainless steel infuser) for many of the at-my-desk cuppas.

  22. A nice package in the mail for sure!!

  23. A pretty cup and without a doubt tea tastes different in china. Possibly our own senses make the difference. I'm fussy about cups/mugs in general. China for tea and pottery for bedtime Ovaltine with coffee dependent on the type. Tall glass for Latte, pottery for coffee in general and glass cup for Cappuccino.

  25. What a beautiful Paragon teacup you received, Lorrie, and so many other gifts to make you feel spoiled! I love drinking my tea out of a pretty teacup every morning. Somehow it makes me feel special to pour my tea from a teapot and into a special teacup that I've chosen for that day. Enjoy all your new treasures!

  26. 200 participants. YES ! That's a lot of interest and china!

  27. How lovely is the teacup, but oh my so many other things too. How generous. Tea definitely taste different in a paper cup, but as long as it is china or pottery then I am happy.

  28. What a pretty teacup! Bachelor Buttons are among my favourite flowers and I've never seen them on a teacup. Enjoyed my visit with you!

  33. What a pretty tea cup, Bachelor Buttons are some of my favorite wild flowers. - Loved the embroidered items too. So much fun to join this event and see what everyone gets.

  34. Lorrie - I do think tea tastes better from a bone china cup - the theory of mine is that the china does not 'hold' flavors like other materials, so you get the true taste of only the tea you are currently drinking. I took a quick browse on the Enchanted Rose - what a terrific exchange - the variety of items is fascinating! Have a superb week.

  35. I am a sucker for vintage linens - you hit the jackpot on this one! LOVE all of the crocheted items and the colors on the cup and saucer!
