Blogtober 21: A Quiet Day Spent Mostly at Home

When trees are removed for any building projects in our municipality - grocery stores, malls, community centers, libraries, etc - the contractor is required to plant replacement trees. As a result, the parking lot of the grocery store I visit has several dozen acer/maple trees glowing red just now. The sky was grey and drizzly, hence the dull background, but I was struck by the intense colour of the leaves.

A fine drizzle in the morning dried up to a sunny late afternoon. While taking the compost out to the bin, I noticed the slanting light on the garden and collected my camera to take a few photos. The dahlias are holding their own.

The cosmo bush sprawls wide and is quite untamed, but I will let it go until frost or rain decimate its beautiful blooms.

I picked the remaining apples from our two trees. They've given us a bounty of fruit this year. We've shared it with friends, family, and neighbours and have enough stored away to last us at least until Christmas, if not beyond. Some of these have spoiled bits. I use those first, cutting away the nasty pieces.

I made Apple Muffins and they are very delicious. The link will take you to the site where I found the recipe. It calls for peeling the apples, but I left the peel on. I enjoyed one this afternoon. Yum!

Tomorrow I have a hair appointment and we're meeting someone from our distant past for lunch. Do you find that your days fill up without any trouble?
