I've been filling vases throughout the house with flowers from the garden. Such a delightful occupation in the cool mornings. I've also been walking before breakfast and enjoy seeing everyone's front gardens. Dahlias are having their moment - many of the plants are taller than I am with blooms of all shapes and colours.
I'm always fascinated by the changes in hydrangea blooms. One bush has changed completely from deep blue to green. Still very pretty. Another is blue now and changing to pink.
As the lowering sun shone through the window this evening, I caught it illuminating a bouquet of roses. The light is fading so much more quickly these days, and early mornings are darker longer. Our province has decided to no longer make the change in time, so we will be staying on Daylight Saving Time come autumn. We'll see what happens. Mornings will be dark for a long while.

What a wonderful day your mother must have had surrounded by family and friends. The three tier plates are lovely, I always wondered how the holes were made for those. I love the way Hydrangeas change colour as the blooms mature, I'm afraid ours have suffered badly in the heat:)

Ici, j’aimerais que l’on reste à l'horaire d’hiver et non pas de l’été. Quand le soleil cogne - comme cette année - jusqu’à 22h, c’est insupportable.
Je suis une "fille" (j’ai bientôt 75 ans !ah ah) de septembre donc j’aime l’automne, ses matins brumeux et frisquets, ses couleurs qui embrasent la nature, l'odeur d’humus de la terre quand elle est humide.
Cette année le potager n’a rien donné en raison des canicules qui se sont succédées. Vos tomates ont l’air délicieuses, rien n’est meilleur que de manger ce que le jardin donne, n’est-ce-pas ?

ReplyDeleteTomatoes, basil pesto and mozzarella on Einkorn bread is my usual lunch these days. I love tomatoes so much. In addition to the ones from my garden I also buy them on the farmers market and make sauce for the winter.

Your mom's party sounds delightful, and I am sure that her heart was filled to be celebrated so sweetly! And i, too, know the feeling of appreciation of quieter days after a big hullabaloo. (We have just spent a month of birthdays and visiting family and being visited and, although I wouldn't trade those days for anything, I am ready for some quieter days myself.)

Here with five heat waves all is burnt in the garden we watered but it was not enough we lost many plants. Now it rains a LOT with strong thunderstorms it is really scary!
