More Blooms, A Little Cute, and a Question

A border of tulips and bellis daisies is a cheerful sight on a grey day.
Sometimes the blogging motivation wanes. This is one of those times. So I'm sharing more photos of Butchart Gardens with you from last week's visit.

More pink cloud trees. The placement of these trees is so artfully done - every vista has one or two or a host of them. My garden planning is more hit and miss. Mine is definitely at its best in summer when everything is lush and full and I admire gardeners who can add interest at every season.

A perfectly lovely camellia - such glossy leaves!

Here's the question - does anyone know what kind of plant this is? It was in the indoor garden alongside orchids and other exotic plants. The petals are very sharp and poky as my young companion discovered.

One of my favorite views in the garden. I love the curve of the stepping stones and the glimpse of the red bridge in the distance and in the reflection. All the shades of green are restful. A pathway of possibility.

Here's the cute - Mister F giving Nana a look that says, "I don't think I'm allowed to be here behind the ficus tree, but I'm not sure. I'll just charm her with my blue eyes."

Spring break is zooming by. Some of my list has been accomplished, other things have fallen by the wayside. That's just the way things go.

Hope your week is going well.

  1. I was going through your beautiful photos -- especially enjoying the pretty flowers and the stepping stones across the pond (wondering if we could do that at our place) ...then I saw Mr. Cute and a BIG smile appeared on my face! Totally adorable!

  4. What a beautiful place!! It must have been lovely to visit. I don't know what the plant is, although I think that it might be some sort of bromeliad perhaps. Let us know if you can find out as I would be interested to know! xx

  7. I'm chuckling at Mister F's sweet expression.
The sights at Butchart continue to be beautiful. I love the combination of the roses with the daisies.
I see others have already mentioned the mystery plant being a bromeliad. That was going to be my guess too.
Enjoy the remainder of spring break.

  9. Lorrie, I am smiling a wide, happy smile, thanks to your beautiful photos of all the pretties at Butchart Gardens. What an intriguing mystery flower, (sorry, have no idea what it's called), but it's the bed of red tulips and bellis daisies that stole my heart - SO adorable!

And speaking of adorable, Mr. F has definitely stole his nana's!

Happy Spring in your stunning BC!

  10. I've been trying catch up with all you lovely posts and pictures! Those little granddaughters and that little guy are so cute. How wonderful for all of you that you live close! What a treat to see these gardens so often. I don't know the name of the plant but I recognize it from the Lied Jungle area that is in the Henry Doorlyy Zoo near us.

  11. What a sweetie pie!! Those eyes...oh my!! You could never get angry at that little angel, no matter how big the mess he makes.

I'm thrilled that I knew the answer to your question regarding the pink flower...it IS a bromeliad ...I used to have several. Killed them by over watering. *sigh*
Love seeing all these gorgeous photos, Lorrie. It gives me hope on a grey, dreary, raining cold day here in Ohio.

That is a stunning garden, reminds me a little of the Japanese Garden at St. Mawgan in Cornwall which I loved.
