August? Already? That's one way to think about it. On the other hand, there are still 27 more days to fill with summer delights.
Geese on a pond at Hatley Castle. (A local castle - quite new, in the grand scheme of castles.)
We stopped in the gazebo on the pond for a short snack and some silliness.
We're eating from a wealth of choice these days - apricots, peaches, cherries (almost done), melons and more. I'm also preserving some of the bounty for a taste of summer in the cold rainy months to come. Here it's apricot jam.
Purple carrots are, sadly, orange under the skin. I was hoping for vibrant colours all the way to the core. They tasted fresh and yummy.
I'm spending some time with the little ones this week. Tea parties are always popular, especially when Nana puts a few chocolate chips, raisins, and one big marshmallow in a little cup. Doesn't Miss A look so grown-up, playing "mother"? Mr. F is saying "cheese" without prompting. Apparently, he's been the star of many a photo shoot.
More food. I love meals like this - fresh, simple, and oh, so satisfying.
Time to scram. The little ones will be here shortly. We'll be playing in the splash pool, staying cool under the canvas gazebo, and having more summer fun.
You look like you are having so much fun with your "grands". Tea parties are the best too. That salad makes me want it right now.
ReplyDeleteIt is such a lovely time in the Summer, especially when you can eat your own produce, and make delicious salads by just popping out into the garden.
ReplyDeleteHappy Tea Party!
ReplyDeleteThe salad looks scrumptious!
Looks like my kind of a tea party! I'm glad you're soaking up some summer fun before school starts again.
ReplyDeleteMay you be blessed with an extra ounce or two of energy to enjoy your littles!
ReplyDeleteThe best of times - summer days with your grandchildren! It should be a lovely weekend. I wish you many more such days as this great summer weather goes on and on.

ReplyDeleteLorrie, what fun with the grands! But it's your apricot jam that has my attention this morning -- would love to get a batch in the cupboard before the season is over.
ReplyDeleteoh the "CHEESE" photo!! Mine did it the very same way at that age! :) Adorable.
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know that there were purple carrots! :0 )
Perfect summer fun with the grands Laurie. The tea party is adorable.
ReplyDeleteWe had lunch at Pickle Barrel today, not sure if you have this chain out west? I had the most amazing salad of quinoa, roasted chicken cubes, avocado, cheese, tomatoes, corn niblets and black beans - called Santa Fe. Made me think of you and the healthy salad plates you create.
The cute tea party made me smile. You're the Queen of Salads!
ReplyDeleteGreat summer fun!
ReplyDeleteYour grands are growing fast! Enjoy your days together!

Beautiful, happy and delicious photos, Lorrie, and it was of course the tea party photo that made me smile most broadly.

The fresh salad looks so good, I just showed my husby and I am making something like that for us for tomorrow...as we have leftovers for this day. The apricot jam looks yummy too, I love those fruits. It looks like fun times with family, nothing better than that~
