It didn't look at all like rain this afternoon when we took a short walk around the neighbourhood. Lots of streaky skies and some wind. Some trees are almost bare and after the incoming storm I expect to see many more bare branches.
I always enjoy going to the hairdresser. My stylist is a young mother and we chat about her children and my grands. I noticed this morning that it was definitely retired ladies day at the salon. Other women are working at that hour. An hour of pampering and I walk out feeling a wee bit fashionable.
I've spent a bit of time over the past couple of days playing with watercolours. The leaves were picked up from the ground and I traced them onto the paper. When I take a close look I notice all the varied colours.
I plan to read this evening, and perhaps a bit of stitching. Darkness is falling earlier and earlier.

Your watercolor leaves are lovely! Rain is headed our way, too, down here, but unfortunately not much of it.
ReplyDeleteI’m always in awe of your beautiful water colour painting, those leaves are beautiful. I must book a trim at my hairdresser; it’s just fitting it in with my busy retirement schedule. Enjoy your book. B x
ReplyDeleteSome of the roses do manage to hang on for quite a while, so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI hope the storm isn't too severe...
ReplyDeleteYour roses are still so beautiful, mine have faded, but the dahlias are still gorgeous... everywhere, just like the asters.
You painted some wonderful leaves... in your photo, it looks like a piece of fabric. I'd sew a bag out of it in a heartbeat :-)))
All the best to you.
My roses stopped flowering ages ago. Molineux is such a pretty rose, but I find the stems are quite weak.
ReplyDeleteYour roses still look lovely. It seems there will be rain and lots of it over the next few days, it is needed even if sometimes inconvenient in its arrival:)
ReplyDeleteThose last few roses hanging on are a lovely last colours in the garden...our rain arrived today!
ReplyDeleteWe could definitely use any kind of moisture here in Calgary but there is nothing even in the long range forecast. I love your painting! I have done leaf painting before but never brought home leaves to trace then paint You just planted the idea in my brain!
ReplyDeleteWe are seeing forecasts for the rain to arrive here Friday evening. Glad you weren't poured on exiting your hair appointment! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the watercolour leaves! We’ve been having rain lately. So welcome!
ReplyDeleteI just love your watercolor. It's really beautiful and I love how you incorporated so many!
ReplyDeleteHopefully your roses will survive the expected rain.
ReplyDeleteIt was so enjoyable reading through your Blogtober, Lorrie. Your photos always enchant me, and your accomplish so much…reading, baking, enjoying nature, sewing and painting. Thank you for sharing your wonderful life.
ReplyDeleteI also went to the hairdresser last week and at the time I choose there are only retired people and there is a friendly atmosphere. You watercolour is very nice! It was a very good idea
