Tea with a New Friend

Several months ago, Marilyn of Delights of the Heart, wrote that she and her husband would be visiting Victoria. We planned to have dinner together, but that idea was scuttled when Tim had an evening meeting. Instead, we met for morning tea at the White Heather Tea Room.

Marilyn's husband was a good sport, enjoying tea along with us while we talked about blogging, pattern making, and other sundry items.
The scones were delicious, soft and warm. One Apricot Ginger and the other Raisin, served with Lemon Curd, Raspberry Jam, and a tart-sweet cream. I didn't need any lunch after that!

Marilyn is a retired pattern maker and the tea cozy she gave me is one of her patterns. It will certainly come in handy in the colder months to come. She's also published a book of tea recipes that I'm looking forward to trying. Isn't her card pretty? Love that square shape.

Marilyn's husband kindly took a photo of the two of us. Isn't her smile beautiful? (unlike the person sitting beside her who barely cracked a smile)
Meeting blogging friends is always wonderful. I'm a bit apprehensive and nervous at first, but every blogging friend visit I've had has been great.

Have you met many of your blogging friends?

  9. Awww how wonderful Lorrie to meet a blogging friend! You both are beautiful ladies and to meet at a tea room would be delightful! I've met Miz Helen from Miz Helen's Country Cottage at a tearoom two times. It's like we always knew each other and had such a great time chatting away. I sure hope to meet more blogging friends, if I ever get the chance.

  10. Oh I love meeting blogging friends and have never been disappointed. I just knew you would be special and you were for sure. I just wished we had more time for tea and a visit, but in the meantime I love me visits here. Those scones were delicious and warm from the oven. My left over one was still good later in the day on the ferry home. Thanks so much for your treats and I am enjoying the Maple Earl Grey now. The cookies I am saving for a special time of tea some afternoon soon. Love, love your cards. I will probably post on Thursday about our visit.

  11. Oh how lovely! Yes, she has a beautiful smile and you look perfectly pleasant! Lovely gifts, too. Can't wait to see the tea cozy you will whip up.

Yes, I have met a number of blogging buddies and, like you, I am off my pins at first. I have never been disappointed with any of them, though I suspect that some may have been disappointed in me.

  16. I met one blogging friend from Calgary, and I'm really hoping to meet one from Victoria next time I'm there (wink). With all the things blogging friends know about each other from our posts, I can't imagine there be too many minutes feeling strange when we meet in person.

Your outing to the White Heather Tea Room looks so delightful. Lovely photos and the scones look so inviting. How wonderful for you and Marilyn to meet.

    Beautiful post...

  18. This was so nice that you could still meet up for a tea ... and what a nice fella her husband was to sit with you as you nattered ;) Your comment of Marilyn's smile and your lack of one made me laugh! I'm sure you had lots of smiles throughout your visit. I'm admiring that black teacup with the roses(?) painted on the inside on your table ... pretty! I've met one blogging friend ... Judith! of Lavender Cottage, and we had a really nice day together at an antique market earlier this summer.

  30. It is always wonderful to meet our blog friends. Morning tea was a perfect way to begin a new friendship.I have only met one, Karen of PomPom. She lives in Denver. We met once at the Denver Botanical Gardens and need to catch up with each other again. May I ask what you are teaching in high school? While we love teaching, it is the outside work that takes up so much time. I am enjoying every moment because it will soon end, probably for good this time. Today daughter and I are making salsa.

  31. What a special meeting, as you are both blogging friends of mine, I wish I had been there too! I can't imagine ever meeting any of my Canadian or US friends - New Zealand is just so far away.
I have met one blogging friend from Honolulu several times, however she is a Kiwi by birth and made several trips home to see her elderly mother.
I've also met a very sweet Australian blogger Patricia of The Red Cardinal, her daughter is married to a Canadian and lives in Ontario.

A tea shop is the perfect meeting place - we all enjoy a little tea party.
    Love the photo!
