Life Lessons

My husband walked by the bedraggled bouquet of tulips on the kitchen counter and said, "I didn't know tulips were blue on the inside."
So I felt better immediately, thinking that my delay in disposing of the flowers was a little bit educational!

Just a quick post. My father, active and healthy as a horse, suffered a mild heart attack on Friday and I've been preoccupied with that and with the marking for end of term. I apologize for not commenting on your blog posts - I'll be back in a week or so.

My father is spending the weekend in hospital while waiting for some tests early in the week. He's quite bored and chafing to be back at home, so that's a very good sign.

Back to the marking...accompanied by tea and the lovely scent of lilacs.

  2. Oh I am sorry to read this, but very happy that he is getting good care. Things have come a long way in cardiac care. (My dad had a heart attack at age 60. He's 86 now.)

Now I never knew that tulips were blue inside either!

  6. Oh Lorrie, I'm so sorry your father had a heart attack, but I'm happy and relieved to hear he is doing fine now. I totally agree with Vee about the progress made in cardiac care. My MIL had a heart attack (a really bad one) when she was 59, and she's 77 now; it's really amazing. I'll keep you all in my thoughts and prayers, and good luck with your grading.

    Warm hugs,

    Denise at Forest Manor

  14. Thinking of your dear dad Lorrie and wishing him a speedy recovery. Cardiac care has made huge strides in the past few years it seems - hopefully his problem will be addressed, and with TLC, perhaps meds. and continuing with exercise and healthy eating (which it sounds like he already followed), he'll be "up and at 'em" again very, very soon.

Take care and know you are in our thoughts too.
    Hugs - Mary
