Morning Light

For the month of August, I'm joining in A Month of Mindfulness, hosted by Susannah Conway. She provides a list of photo prompts and encourages participants to share, or not share the results on social media. I'll be sharing. Perhaps not every day, and perhaps I'll combine photos. Why don't you consider joining in, as well?

Our home is set on a west-facing hillside in the city and we're surrounded by large trees on the east, so sunlight comes a bit later to our garden. I took these photos just after my husband left for work, around 7:45. The white geranium caught some of the first rays peeking through the forsythia bush.

Our "Secret" rose still in shade, but the unclouded light of morning shows her petals to perfection.

Am I cheating by including other photos? I don't think so. This is what I picked from my garden yesterday. It feels so luxurious to go out and see what's available for dinner. Did you notice the top tomato? One of my tomato plants is producing tomatoes that have grown together. They look odd, but still taste delicious.

Last night's dinner - flatbreads (caramelized onions, figs, goat cheese, basil) and salad. I find choosing what to make for dinner on hot days challenging, do you? I planned to grill the pizza outdoors, but our temperatures have moderated and I used the oven instead.

One last morning light photo - the sunlight visible on hydrangea stems.

  2. Perfect morning light and you can never have too many photos. Glad you’ve joined the challenge too. Some of the prompts need some thought I feel :) B x

  3. I love what morning light does to the garden. Your salad makings are beautiful, especially that crisp tender lettuce! I do find myself skipping using the oven as much as possible right now but sometimes I just have to. Your month of mindfulness list is full of inspiration, even for those of us who don't post daily!

  4. That dinner sounds delicious and I love the light on the hydrangea. If I didn't have another month of extreme busyness, I would be tempted to join in. The prompts are great!

  5. Beautiful photos! It rained all day here, so we really didn't have any morning light.

  6. Morning light is so unlike all other times of the day. Light seems to flow through flower petals and whisper gently round the gardens.
    Lovely tomatoes!

  17. Your flowers are doing so well, and beautiful, Lorrie, it is so nice to go outside our doors and find something so luscious for dinner. Tomatoes are one of my fast go tos for quick meals. Looking forward to your other post through August.
Thank you so much for your kind thoughts and prayers, I am now at home and doing well.
    Blessings,

  18. If I wasn't still on vacation, I might join in the challenge … just way too much fun going on over here. In the meantime, your morning light photos are stunning - another reason to get up in the early hours, even in the summer! Yes, it can be tough to choose recipes in the hot months, but it looks like you have a cornucopia right outside your door! Yum!

  19. What a fun exercise. I hope you do today's prompt on bookshelves. We're in the midst of another heat wave so I'll be spending the long weekend indoors.

  21. Your morning light is beautiful! Funny, but I thought that first morning of joining with a morning light picture and that morning it was gloomy and not much light and I forgot to continue on.
