Garden Walk and a Winner

It's lovely to visit with someone while walking through a garden, don't you think? Today, a friend invited me to stroll through Finnerty Gardens, on the grounds of the University of Victoria. It's known for its rhododendrons, which were, of course, not in bloom today. But there was lovely color to enjoy. A well-planned garden like this one leads the eye from the foreground to the distance with varying foliage and color. A feast for the eyes.

The sun appeared now and again during our walk, and as we were leaving, rays of light caught this tree with golden effect.

When you enter giveaways, don't you hate being the first one to comment? Number One so rarely gets chosen, it seems. Well, this time, Mrs. Random Generator came up with 1, numero uno, un, one! And the winner of the gift bags is Jen of Muddy Boot Dreams. Congratulations! I'll get your parcel in the mail early next week.  (If you don't know Jen's blog, please take a look - she takes the most wonderful photos and writes beautifully.)

Tomorrow I'm planning to make applesauce and plant my tulip bulbs. Maybe do a little sewing. Anything special happening with you?

  3. Nothing exciting planned for today just how I like it occasionally! Tomorrow we will be hunkering down as a gale hits us here in the SW of UK apparently - might be a good opportunity to get on with some crafting. Enjoy your weekend.

What a nice idea to take a garden walk on a fall day Especially nice when shared with a friend.
Congratulations to your giveaway winner. I'm just getting back into the blogging groove and need to scroll back to see what she won.
Our mission here this weekend is to select my husband's next car.

  6. There will be some indoor pursuits on this rainy day, but that will be after a visit to two bazaars.

Your photographs are lovely; the bench looks like an inviting spot with the surrounding beauty. Also, congratulations to Jen.

  11. Oh such lovely photos. We have a slow day planned - actually nothing much planned - maybe tea and scones - a good book - or a little ride in the country. A quiet companionable day.

  15. Beautiful! The colours are fast disappearing here. Really wish the leaves could stay on the trees a bit longer as they brighten up the shortening days. Thanks for sharing your pretty walk with us.
