Anticipating Baby's Arrival

There's a party today. The guest of honor is oblivious, but his/her mother will be there. All sorts of baby loveliness will be happening.

For my part, I sewed up these fabric baskets and some little necessities - receiving blankets, burp clothes and tiny toys. Oh, I've had fun!

Sitting at my sewing machine is a good time for praying for my children - all of them. And for the little one soon to join us. Prayers for purpose and delight in life. Prayers for knowing God's love. Prayers for wisdom. Prayers for health and strength. A quilt stitched with prayer.

  4. Beautiful work! My mother made a quilt for my first born and when his first baby was born, I gave it to her. Who knows, in the years to come, your quilt may be a family heirloom! I know "MOM" will be thrilled and blessed. Have fun!

  6. Lorrie - The quilt and home made items will be so appreciated and I like your idea of praying for the children as you sew. As I sit at my machine I often think about the person I'm making something for. It's a quiet peaceful time and all seems right with the world when I sew. From now on I'll say a few prayers - like you...

  7. What beautiful gifts...made with love by your own hand...and accompanied by prayer. That's the best kind of gift.

  8. They are just so beautiful and all the more special because they are hand-made. I still have the crocheted blanket an older woman made for my Buttercup. It is a treasure to us all.

  12. Lorrie, this is a stunning quilt! And I love your sentiment about the quilt stitched with prayer. I have a piece of cross-stitch needlework hanging in my guest bathroom which reads, "Life outlined with prayer is less likely to unravel." It was a wedding present (24 yrs. ago) I have always loved and tried to live by that thought.

    Blessings,
    Christi

  13. A beautiful gift...stitched with prayer. Wow. What a blessing you are passing along. It will protect the physical body as well as the spiritual well being. A priceless gift. I must remember to do this more when crafting/sewing/creating.
