I have a couple of major sewing projects on the go, which I'm having a hard time getting to. So I thought that if I stitched up a quick little something, I might feel more motivated. Last night I made these two small bags, perfect for tucking into a purse or overnight bag. They were fun and easy, but the zippers and resulting rounded corners irk me. I pondered the problem during the night (what a silly thing to keep me awake) and think I've come up with a solution. I'll let you know if it works, although I won't get to it for a couple of days.
This week I made raspberry jam. Ashley was hankering for a lesson on jam-making so she made a batch of cherry jam. The darker jar there is the cherry. Jam is good for so many things, not just toast or bread.
Almond Strawberry Squares are a good example. Of course, these could be Almond/Walnut/Pecan/Hazelnut Strawberry/Cherry/Raspberry/Apricot Squares just as easily. Substitute at will.
On another note - has anyone migrated from Blogger to Wordpress? Why, or why not? I'm thinking of making the switch and would welcome words of advice from anyone who has considered or done it.
You have piqued my interest on two levels at least...the solving of the problem in your dreams or in your lack of sleep and the discussion about Word Press and Blogger. I only know that I do not like "the look" of most Word Press blogs, though I've been sorely tempted to do something other than Blogger for some time. This should be interesting!
ReplyDeleteHello...
ReplyDeleteLove your little bags...very sweet. Zippers annoy me! ..especially on small pieces.
I have wanted to switch to Wordpress from time to time. There are a couple of themes I really like and would probably motivate me to post more often. My reason for jumping over would be that I like the crispness of the presentations. A couple of friends that use it really like that feature. I may jump for my food blog...I love the "Just Desserts" theme.
Enjoy your weekend!
Hugs, nancy
Pretty little zip pouches, Lorrie! hee hee Glad to hear I'm not the only one sorting out sewing problems during the night. ;o)
ReplyDeleteYum! LOVE homemade jam.
Hello Lorrie,
ReplyDeleteI have had my blogs in Blogger and Wordpress.com. If you want to "run your own show" then it is Wordpress.org.
Went back to blog on Blogger and use my old Wordpress blog as my website with my .com domain. You are welcome to email me if you want to know more about my experience with Wordpress.com
Are you thinking about moving yours?
Gabriela
Zips arent easy on little things. I try to put the zip into the fabric first before I sew up any edges or corners.
ReplyDeleteLove the look of your jam!
What a busy week you've had Lorrie. the jam looks delicious and the little bags are very nice. Perfect for a few pieces of jewellery I think.
ReplyDeleteBusy Bee! I hope to get some jam made before the end of the summer - still waiting for some Okanagan peaches!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous little bags, love them both! Hate zips! Haven't ever been able to do zips but I have been known to make an excellent pot of jam!
ReplyDeleteWhy have you gone off blogger? Personally I prefer to leave comments on blogger blogs versus Wordpress as long as they don't have word verification, do not like that.
Love your sweet bags! As for homemade jam...it's the best. And really quite easy to make.
ReplyDeleteI have not had any major issues with blogger...and am never great for making changes...and so I will stay.
Yum! I'm going to make some jam tomorrow and probably a cherry crisp.
ReplyDeleteOh, my mouth just watered.
My jam plan has depended on my husband picking up berries when he's getting groceries, and so far he hasn't. . . .we may skip raspberry jam and go straight to blackberries. But your productivity is inspiring.
ReplyDeleteI've thought about Wordpress but rather like the simple accessibility of Blogger which does as much as I need it to -- seems like a huge task to transfer over, but I'll be curious to follow your move, if you make it. I dislike the way so many other platforms make commenting difficult, requiring sign-ins, etc.
How do you have time to sew and make jam. Curios to see what you find about blogger vs Wordpress.
