Bright Days

While the eastern part of the North American continent has been preparing to hunker down with blizzard warnings and preparations for snow, we've enjoyed some delightfully sunny days. I admired these ducks on a recent walk around the bog.

Although the bullrushes are brown, soon new growth will replace them and all will be green again. The trees are beginning to show the first hints of swelling buds. Life is burgeoning all around!

  1. Hello, Lorrie

I enjoy seeing mallards when they return in the spring; their heads have those beautiful blue/green colours that sparkle in the sunlight. What a lovely sneak preview.

As for swelling buds, which you have already, they always symbolize "hope" to me.

Thank you for bringing your feathered friends to "Sunlit Sunday". Have a wonderful week!

  2. The bullrushes look like they are great habitat to any number of wildlife. The ducks seem to be having a peaceful time together.

  3. That's a favourite walk of mine too, Lorrie. At this time of year it's lovely to see the ducks pairing off, and soon there will be ducklings all over that bit of water. Can't wait!

  9. I never get tired of the ducks. Saw some magnolia buds today swelling up big and plump and we have tulips coming up all over. Won't be long now.

  11. One often wonders if ducks feel the cold?
All these little signs give one the feeling that the season could be about to change......though having seen the British weather forecast, I'm not too sure!

  15. You are very lucky to have a sunlit Sunday. Here it's been snowy and greyish... and apparently it's not getting better anytime soon.
Starting to feel sick of it.

  17. What a beautiful spot...love seeing the ducks and the browned plant life. Such a classic- what a great painting that would make! I've always loved those beautiful head and neck colors in the mallard ducks.
Oh how lucky you are to see life emerging already! We're a ways off from that here.

  18. We don't have bogs here but we do have beautiful snow covered mountains but this year the snow has covered the ground and it has stayed for two months.
