Frosty Mornings

Looking out of the window early in the morning, I see frost-covered roofs. Morning sun soon melts it all away, so this morning, before church, I headed out into the garden with my camera. Delicate crystals edge the oregano leaves like finely crocheted lace and speckle my neighbour's grapevine hanging over our fence. Brown, decaying hydrangea leaves are transformed with a dusting of frost.

Beauty in the small things. I'll be linking to Mosaic Monday later this afternoon. In the meantime, we're going out on the water, with friends. The sun is shining and we must make the most of these days.

I wish you a Sunday filled with beauty whether the weather is frosty or sunny.

  1. Those are beautiful shots, I love the hoar frost, and it's not always around, you have to be quick to capture it.

    Happy Sunday.

  3. A beautiful frosty mosaic. And yet it will warm up enough for a boat outing! Sounds ideal to me.

  4. Frost can sure paint some pretty things in the garden, the green leaves edged in it are nice.

  6. How pretty the morning is when Jack Frost visits at night! His icy fingers leave just enough 'embroidery' on the leaves still hanging on to make them so beautiful. Soon it's gone, unlike 12" of snow such as that which fell and buried Western Ontario last night! Some bloggers are prisoners in their homes today......I hope everyone is safe, has heat and food etc.

Lovely snippets from your garden Lorrie - hope it's a bit warmer on the water this afternoon.

  11. What lovely frosty photos - we had a little frost this morning - then sunshine and it melted - and now clouds - well I could see the clouds if it wasn't so dark already.

  12. I like the way the frost highlights the oregano leaves. I hope the remainder of your Sunday was as lovely as its start, Lorrie.

  15. Our parts of the Pacific coast are vastly different. It was warm on the beach and the water was not too cold.

  18. The delicate beauty of frost on the leaves - I understand how these simple things are what inspired the great poets.

  20. As we enter into winter, many of us are turning our camera lens to those small scenes of nature that become magical with a little dusting of frost or snow. Am enjoying seeing all these examples of intimate winter photography--like yours--on Mosaic Monday.

  22. I love your frosty photos. I can't wait to capture shots like these but it is just damp here and makes everything look quite muddy.
