Three Things

First: A Giveaway - There's a new Etsy shop in down. Dapple Design. I happen to know the owner quite well. Cristal has tons of ideas, but is so wonderfully methodical about this venture - calculating materials and costs with a real business sense. Her first offerings include reusable gift bags and tags. She also started a blog, and you might recognize one of my Little Misses there.

For the giveaway, I'd like you to visit Dapple Design on Etsy and tell me which bag you like best. I'd also like to know how many readers would use eco-friendly cloth gift bags. The giveaway includes a wine bag, a medium bag, and a large bag, as seen above. Each has ribbon ties sewn into the seam. (Oct 25 - giveaway is now closed)

Second: Downton Abbey fans might recognize the above drawing room. It's in Highclere Castle, the real life setting of the BBC drama. And now, Lady Carnarvon has a blog! And Highclere Castle has a Facebook page. The blog is fairly recent, but I loved the post about setting the table for dinner parties. The white gloves are for a reason! (photo from the blog)

Third: I hope you find some time this weekend to toss a few leaves in the air and enjoy the exuberance of autumn, as Little Miss A did last November.

But don't forget to enter the giveaway. Visit Dapple Design Shop. Comment. That's it. I'll draw a name towards the end of next week, and I'll ship anywhere.

  1. Oh first the hang tags, I love her style, the bags, are all lovely, but it's the tags that capture my heart.

And Highclere Castle has a FB page, jumping up and down..!!! We saw the documentary on HC and it was wonderful. Even my husband who isn't into anything like that enjoyed it.

  2. Lovely cloth bags! I especially like the burlap ones for wine. I make cloth bags a lot to hold Christmas or hostess gifts.

Thanks for the tip on the Downton Abbey blog. I will check it out!

I will mentally jump in leaves, LOL. I would hurt myself if I did it for real. We went for a long drive today, so that was a treat.

  3. Counting happy things on a Friday is fun, isn't it? Have you read Kate Atkinson's Life after Life? I think anyone who's missing Downtown Abbey might enjoy it, truly . . . (I'm a big Atkinson fan)

  8. The reusable bag with the burlap flower is my favorite because of that imaginative flower garnish! I also very much like the fabric of the red & white simple pleasures print Christmas bag. I hope Crystal is very successful!

  9. I like using re-usable cloth gift bags Lorrie. I love the set you show in your post as they are my favourite colours but Christmas ones would be wonderful too with the season coming up. Thanks. I'll go visit these new blogs. Blessings, Pam

  10. I like the burlap bag the best. Does not have to be a wine bag, but I like the rustic look and being able to add to it.That last photo of your granddaughter playing with the leaves is precious!

  13. I LOVE the tea pots bag. I have a lovely collection of tea pots and a big collection of cloth bags. Stores here are now charging for plastic bags, so we ask for brown bags if we forgot our bags and then resuse them at home or we take our cloth bags along. Love our little contribution to helping the environment!

  15. Good heavens! This sneaked right past me. Yes, I have received some fabric gift bags. I do not regift them...I tend to use them in some fashion. The site is very well stocked and I was drawn to the tags most especially. Will she be selling any wreaths like the one she made out if Wuthering Heights? That was gorgeous.

Thanks for the link to the blog...I am intrigued.

Little Miss A is so cute playing in the leaves!

  16. I love the tea pot bags too. I didn't know about Lady Carnavon's blog or Highclere Castle's FB page. I do know about Downtown Abbey Series 4 FB page and we have watched it on Sunday nights. I won't spoil it.
We are going to London in Nov. and the castle will be closed.

  17. I don't know, I have not visited for a while and here you have a giveaway. Such pretty bags and I have to say that I like your choice of colours that you have up here, especially the one with the teapots. I do have some small fabric gift bags but in silk which I use to give sweets to my grand children.

  18. Love the bags! Yes, bags like that are very popular here! We don't have any falling leaves yet.... not even wearing jackets.... how do I get so behind in my blog reading?
