It's a Lovely Christmas

Three days of Christmas celebrating with family and friends, a little too much good food, glowing lights, excited little ones makes for one tired Nana. I sat on the couch yesterday evening while the Little Misses A and S gave me a new hairstyle - Nana's crazy hair. They were mostly gentle and I quite enjoyed the attention, the giggles and the interplay between a 4 year old and 2.5 year old.

Today has been delightfully slow. A late breakfast, then a trip downtown followed by a long, brisk walk along the water. Wind whipped our hair into more craziness as we filled our lungs with clean fresh air.

Bright sun, already low on the horizon at 1:30 glinted off the water in squint-inducing, blinding light.

Lush green moss covers a leaning tree trunk with softness.

Such a beautiful hour or two between the rain showers. Home again where the fire flickers and the couch compels a bit of reading and rest. Ahhhh. Lovely days.

  2. It does sound wonderful and delightful and now some good well deserved rest and slowness. I like your teacup with the steam coming out of it. Hmmm morning tea or coffee ...

  3. It all sounds wonderful Lorrie. We spent most of today looking for bargains in town. It was a spring-like day with barely any snow so we enjoyed it. Your mug sure is steaming!

  7. It all sounds delightful...your 'slow day' after all the family celebrations. Glad you could enjoy some sunshine over there today...we will wait for it on the mainland. :)

  8. We take down our decorations early - we put them up on Dec 11 (our youngest daughter's birthday - she is 45 and we still decorate on her birthday). So today was strip the house - pack it all away and all we have left to do is get the lights off the tree and pack the tubs in the shed for another year - then I clean the house for the New Year - ready for what comes next. Tomorrow is our quiet day - perhaps a ride up to Birch Bay and then home for leftover soups from christmas eve and some reading of our new books. We didn't get sunshine today - you must have had it all - glad you got out to enjoy it.

  11. We've been having quiet days, mostly. A bit of sewing - the girls are making costumes for New Year's Eve, and we are enjoying my husbands' 93 year old mother being with us. She's still pretty with it and enjoys playing games with Kyle, and reading, and watching the girls sew, etc.

    Happy New Year!

  12. Aren't these days just the best with their slow wintry rhythm?!
Thought maybe you'd have given us a selfie of your new 'do... No? ;-)

  15. Such beautiful scenery in the sunshine. I can just picture the little ones giving you a new hairdo. Sitting on the couch after so many days of fun and eating is real good therapy...

  16. You were fortunate to walk when the sun was shining. We got caught mid walk in a torrential downpour.
The weariness hit me too....all the prepping and cooking and baking catches up to us in the end. Love a quiet day to relax and recharge.
Would have liked to see that new hair style :-)

  20. What a beautiful place to walk.
I had to smile at your crazy hair done by the little ones.
My daughter use to like doing that when she was little and
I loved the feel of having her hands in my hair. She is a massage
therapist now and when she gives me a massage she always tugs on my hair,
as she remembers how much I loved it. Good memories!

  21. I love your post. The Christmas tide is so pleasant after the push of preparation. A day in a bathrobe is most welcomed as well as walk abouts in the outdoors.
