Schools delayed their start for a week due to the virus, so two of the grands came to play with Nana while their parents worked. We would have enjoyed the other grands, too, but in a flurry of phone calls this morning we all decided that the roads were treacherous and it was best not to venture too far.
Tim shoveled the driveway before leaving for work in his 4-wheel drive SUV. He called to say that he'd stopped to help push one car out of the snow just at the bottom of our street, and to not take the car out.
Adria and Felix and I made snowmen and women this morning. The snow was wet and heavy and packed well. Temperatures hovering around the freezing mark made for an enjoyable time, but also ensured that the snowmen didn't last very long. As of late this afternoon, heads were rolling and carrot noses were strewn on the ground.
Cute pics of the grandkids with their snowpeople. My Colorado boy had a snow day yesterday from work. Since Christmas, he's also dealt with being exposed to covid through his roommate which was also the case with some of the teachers he works with so school was delayed for a week after the holidays. My NYC boy and his roommate are also dealing with covid right because of a small NYE's gathering they had with friends. This new variant definitely seems to spread much faster but symptoms milder or not at all. Take care. Stay safe and warm.
ReplyDeleteA little light housework has been the order of the day here after tidying away Christmas. I can imagine the fun you had with your grandchildren making lots of fun memories. That quilt is beautiful. Have a cosy weekend. B x
ReplyDeleteA lovely quilt on the snow! You certainly are getting plenty of it and it must be quite dangerous driving. I wonder if we will follow on and have snow in the West.
ReplyDeleteHow fun to see the snow people! I love Pho and yours looks great. Your guilt is very pretty! Today is house cleaning and laundry day here. This week I am painting a navy blue feature wall in our condo and will share it on my blog when done.
ReplyDeleteOur first major snow storm is due this evening and overnight. That plus Covid means we are staying close to home.
ReplyDeleteLove that quilt.
Dear Lorrie, Your snowman wins first prize. I especially like his coiffure.
ReplyDeleteHappy Snow Person Making!
ReplyDeletePrayers for safe driving
It is snowing here in Vermont at the moment. The weather report says less than an inch possible. That was surpassed over an hour ago. Soup is on for today.
Good morning, Lorrie. I love the photo of your grandchildren enjoying the snow. Their snowman is the best, such fun.
ReplyDeleteWe had quite a snow here yesterday. However, they are predicting warmer days and rain so the pretty white stuff will soon be gone.
We have no weekend plans, other than to slowly put Christmas away.
Someone else with snow. And we just get a little. -sigh-

The 'Grands' are so cute. Love a little girl, with bangs. Or fringe, whichever you prefer.
ReplyDeleteQuilt is gorgeous!!!

You have such lovely grandchildren! The snow is fun for the children and I don't mind it if I'm not going anywhere. Your pho looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteI got a chuckle out of your description of the melting snowmen:) We've had about 12 inches of snow this week, between two snow storms. It is now melting, and I'm a bit sorry to see it go. We're looking forward to a nice, quiet stay at home weekend. A nice change from the holiday bustle. Happy New Year, Lori.
ReplyDelete*Lorrie! :)
ReplyDeleteThe snowman/woman are so cute as are the construction workers! Love the hair! Good idea to photo that quilt on the snow. Very pretty. We have no plans. We had a very full day yesterday and I'm taking today off!
ReplyDeleteThe snow is the perfect place to display that lovely quilt.
ReplyDeleteIT is great to see kids creating snowmen. I agree with the others, the fresh snow is perfect qui1t backdrop!!!!! wow
ReplyDeleteLovely post, playing in the snow and building snowmen is such fun.
ReplyDeleteWe are planning a quiet weekend, I hope you have an enjoyable one :)
All the best Jan
How exciting to have a good dump of snow, especially with grandchildren coming over. The snowmen are great - how I'd love to be there joining in that exercise. I have never made a snowman (but did make a snow angel once). Snow makes the most fabulous background for a picture of your gorgeous new quilt!
ReplyDeleteSuch cheerful snow photos!
ReplyDeleteHere it's colder, -24C this morning. I'd love to taste your delicious stews.
Wishing you and yours a happy and blessed new year!
Adorable grandies, beautiful snow, funny snowmen!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! We had a lot of snow and a Fed Ex truck got stuck in the alley. It has gotten warmer which is nice. Making bean and ham soup and baked bread yesterday. Lots of football today. So I'm happy. Kit
ReplyDeleteWhat fun to play with the grands in the snow! I just love those kinds of memories made. We've had our fair share of snow this year also. Yesterday we got rain, which really made a mess of things. But, the sun is out today. Your soup looked so yummy, the best kind of comfort food! Your red and white quilt is gorgeous! You do such lovely work! I hope you continue to enjoy lovely new year days, wishing you God's best in this New Year :)
ReplyDeleteI love the beautiful quilt and the cute photos of the little ones! It's fun to play outside even in the snow when you're young! heehee! Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteI think your area has had more snow than ours so far this winter, Lorrie! It's beautiful except for the shoveling part. Your grands certainly had fun playing in it. The Pho soup looks delicious. I also like to make soups and stews this time of year. Your quilt is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt seems like B.C. is getting all the snow this weekend...and I'm fine with that!
ReplyDeleteI spent the weekend putting away the Christmas decorations.
Scrapp? It looks magnificent to me. Did you make that? My mother was an excellent and keen quilter in her day - we have some that will become heirlooms in time. Near my house are two of the last working wool mills in Wales; their weaving is beautiful if pricey - the cushions in a picture I posted the other day were made by one of the mills. Perhaps I will write about them sometime.
ReplyDeleteLove the cute photos of the grandkiddos.
ReplyDeleteThat quilt is lovely, Lorrie.
Happy Tuesday!
That is a darling snowman, and a delicious looking Pho!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Lorrie!
