Rose Syrup
I was entranced by Clarice at Storybook Words telling of how rose syrup makes her feel pampered. And I thought, how exotic - rose syrup! Then I read the directions on how to make and was even more entranced. It's so very easy! I started with this bowl of rose petals and followed Clarice's instructions. (Except I used about 6 cups of petals and 6 cups of water, 3 cups of sugar)
Today, this is what's sitting on my counter! I had some leftover that didn't fit into the jars. I'm going to make her Rhubarb Rose Fool this weekend. What a great idea!
I took a little taste and oh, what a flavour - the essence of roses!

This looks interesting. I am in the middle of a pot of rose petal jelly that I bought in a National Trust shop. It is very pleasant. Wonder if this tastes the same.
ReplyDeleteMantels made a different post.
Almshouses generally rented out these days and I guess to people in the parish. The local library in my post was one of the almshouses there.
Oohh, yummy. I just may have to try this. Your syrup jars are beautiful, too! Love the mantel pictures as well...

Hi Lorrie,
ReplyDeleteThat sounds wonderful. I don't have any roses but maybe one day....
How is your daughter's trip going?
Have a blessed Sunday,

Oooo - this is very intriguing. I've had rose water candy before but never syrup.
