A Puttery Sort of Weekend

After 6 weekends in a row spent in the company of family and friends, I hardly knew what to anticipate with just the two of us. Our weekend ended up both productive and relaxing, fun and mellow.

On Saturday we puttered in the yard. I'm enjoying the bright, dancing daffodils in our neighborhood. Every yard has at least one clump. Deer are not at all fond of them, hence their ubiquitousness.

I made some granola, and a pan of apricot almond squares. Click on the links for the recipes.

Tim puttered in the shop, building the unit of cabinets we need to complete the kitchen. Next step is replacing the countertops, then painting the cabinets.

Today, Sunday, has been wet and blustery, good for spending some time with a cup of tea and a library copy of the British Country Living magazine. A bit of dark chocolate never comes amiss, either.

And I finished a sweet garland for a little girl I love. I was inspired by Vee's links, and adapted the garland somewhat. It felt great to do something a bit creative. Attending church, a little studying, and cleaning rounded out the weekend activities.

I'd encourage you to visit Mary's little red house for more mosaics - what have YOU been up to this weekend?

  2. Thank goodness daffodils will make deer sick to eat them...or they would devour them all. :) Your mosaic is wonderfully full of pretty daffodils, yummy looking food and work getting done.

  14. I love the occasional puttering weekend. Yours was most productive!

You mention church. Did you find a church that feels like home in your new neighbourhood? I've wondered about that.

  15. Sounds like a nice weekend. I made granola a couple of weeks ago, and burned it just a tad. But, a tad of burnt taste is wayyyy too much!

  18. Hi Lorrie - I have to say I would love to have more company on the weekends. My husband's family does visit occasionally - usually for special holidays or birthdays. we serve the meals buffet style and have two tables of relatives. This weekend we set up our deck furniture and I did some quilting, organizing and baked some muffins to take to friends who have just arrived home from their "winter" in Arizona. Glad you enjoyed the weekend and lovely to see your daffodils!

  19. Not a bad weekend at all; I like this sort best.

We call it 'pottering' and I am extremely good at it.
It feels like I'm doing nothing much but in the end I seem to have achieved a few left-over, small but pleasant jobs.
