An Evening Stroll with Clippers - Favorite Things

After cleaning up dinner dishes, I was planning to carry on with folding the laundry and such. But the evening light called me. I went outside to wander around my garden, but soon returned for my clippers. The makings of a bouquet of many colors bloomed.

Roses, hydrangeas, two broken stems of delphiniums and some feverfew make up this lush bouquet. I photographed outside in the lovely light of this longest day of the year.

Inside, the flowers add life to the entrance hall. After I took the photo, I looked at the items there, and each one holds special meaning. The vase holding the flowers was given to me by a piano student in Ecuador. The black iron candle holder by a friend, also from Ecuador. The coral in the cloche reminds me of our vacation to Mexico a few years ago. And the doily was crocheted by my daughter's mother-in-law for me as a Christmas gift. These are a few of my favorite things.

  1. Wonderful favorite things. I love it when people still take the time and use doilies, yours is especially lovely. The flowers are glorious - such a perfect first day of summer bouquet. I must plant some feverfew - I must.

  2. So pretty! I'm waiting for my hydrangeas to open. Isn't it fun to use those pretty things that are reminders of days gone by?

  4. Good Morning, Lorrie

I remember reading somewhere, years ago, that there are no flowers as lovely as those grown in one's own garden. Your bouquet is gorgeous, full of lush colours and blooms. Beautiful!

    Have a wonderful weekend.

  8. Gosh that would be a treat to pull that from my garden! And, piano student? So piano playing is among all your other talents! I can play the piano but never could for anyone and would mess up at my recitals as a child. But, tinkering around is still very enjoyable. Do you play often? Do you still teach?

  12. Nothing beats a bouquet of flowers from one's own garden - and you certainly found some beauties on your evening walk Lorrie. I love a natural vase of flowers, no formal arrangements for me - so these are perfect.

Love the crocheted doily, a really pretty airy and dainty design. I need to get back to teaching myself crochet - I've a couple of books now but still need some time------where oh where does it go?

Lovely vignette for your entry............even more special when each item holds a precious memory from another place and time.

Happy Sunday dear - damp again here, the wettest June I can recall I think.
    Hugs - Mary
