Telling Time and Something for YOU!

From time to time I receive email offers to review a product on my blog. I usually ignore them. However, recently, Jord Wooden Watches sent an offer for something really unique - a watch made of wood. I've watched my husband, Tim, work with wood and I was fascinated by the idea of wood being used as a timepiece.

I checked out the website and agreed to try out the Ely - Natural Green timepiece. It's beautifully made and equally beautiful to wear. Its lighter weight is perfect for summer although I can see wearing this year round. I love the natural look. It tells time, but it's also a wonderful accessory. I wear it loose on my wrist, like a bracelet.

The band, watch face and case are all made of wood. The clasp and time mechanism are metal. It's really a lovely piece of artistry suitable for men or women. Jord Wooden Watches have kindly offered a watch as a giveaway for one of my readers. All you have to do to enter the giveaway is leave a comment below. I'll check back here next Monday and pick a name from the comments.

As to the keeping cool part - we're experiencing a bit of a heat wave here on the west coast. I'm mostly loving it and stay cool by wearing dresses. Floaty ones like the one above that I made at least 15 years ago. It doesn't get a lot of wear, but each summer, on these hot days, out it comes. Did you notice the watch?

Stay cool and don't forget to leave a comment for the giveaway. I promise, you'll love this watch!

  5. What a marvellous idea to make a watch out of wood. I have never heard or seen this before, especially good for those of us who get rashes from the different metals used. Looks great on you while you try to keep cool! Take care xx

  6. I can't take part in this giveaway, but I wanted to say--that is a beautiful watch! Love the idea of making one from wood:)
We got a one day break from the heat down here, but the next three are expected to be hot. I will be happy when we are back in the low to mid 80s later this week.
You make me want to wear a summer dress...
    Blessings,
    Aimee

  11. As Vee has said, you are to be envied to still fit in a dress from 15 years ago. I do have a number of dresses I like to wear too - one feels more feminine in a dress.
The watch is amazing to be made out of wood, a talented artisan.
Please enter me in your give-away.

  18. What a unique and beautiful watch!
I used to wear a wrist watch all the time when I was working as a nurse, as it was essential for taking a pulse. Since I retired I haven't had one, and I admit I miss it. You look so pretty in a dress!

  19. I've seen these watches on the internet before, they are beautiful. I would love to own one. Like you I appreciate the beauty of wood, my dad made beautiful furnishings from wood. He started making violins and mandolins in his late 70's and they looked and sounded gorgeous.

  20. I am glad to see that watches are still in vogue. With folks all about their eye phones, some have quit wearing watches. Cool here. Lots of rain.

    Wishing you some cooler temperatures.

  22. At the age I am now - after all these years, I did something unexpected a few weeks ago - for the first time I got my ears pierced! Accessorizing suddenly appeals a little more - something to do with the progressing wrinkles I guess! Very unique watch Lorrie!

  23. Goodness me, I wish I could still wear something from 15 years ago, but there's no way I could fit into any item of clothing from 1999! You by the way look amazing in that pretty sun dress, the perfect way to keep cool when the mercury rises.
The watch is so unusual I've not seen anything like it before. I love wearing different watches and it would be a great addition to my collection, will head over and check out the website, tout suite.

  25. Love your floaty dress. Thinking I need some of those in this heat. How I would love winning this beautiful watch too. One of my joys is wearing unique watches. Right now I am wearing a very old Mickey Mouse watch that talks. My grandson loves pushing the button. When I bought that watch I never in my wildest imagination thought I would have a grandson that would push the buttons on that watch.

  26. A beautiful Watchmen to wear with something dark to make it pop out. Your dress goes very well with it and it must be confortable in the heat.

  29. I really love that unusual watch Lorrie - an amazing idea and would look fabulous with neutral shades of cotton and linen……speaking of which I actually bought a linen dress last week to wear on the hotter days. I'm a little tired of always wearing crops and longer shorts and have to admit it feels much cooler in a loose dress.

Fabulous, generous give-away. Good luck to all participants, and many thanks for a chance to win.

P.S. lovely dress you're wearing in that great photo.

  31. Love the summer dress. Mine got a bit of wear this past week too - but I'm happy to wash and hang them back up now that the weather has settled back down to cooler. It is blustery here - not much rain yet - but I figure it will rain just about the time we leave to run errands. LOL

Love love love the watch - what a nice change from the all plastic ones we see these days.

    Happy cooler summer days.
