When would you rather have rain - on the weekend or during the week? If I could choose the weather, it couldn't be any better than what we're currently enjoying. Any clouds and rain have passed through during the week with wonderful sunny weather on the weekends.
Today was a day that belied the calendar. A good day for an urban hike along some of the many trails that criss cross Victoria.
We started by wandering through a subdivision not far from our home. Wandering is a most apt word here as we used Tim's phone GPS to backtrack and find our way a couple of times.
We saw this lovely little garden, full of charm and still productive, even in October. Good ideas for deer and rabbit protection, too.
Along the Lochside Trail bicycles of all sizes and shapes rang their bells to warn pedestrians. Things we saw: Cows and fields, overarching branches, geese overhead, ducks in the water, a lake, and this fine sculpture of Farmer Roy.
Several apple trees with small pink glowing fruit - not crabapples because Tim ate one and said it was sweet, but a bit mealy.
Once more off the trail into another subdivision where this old pickup truck caught my eye. Isn't the colour great?
A beautiful urban hike and a great start to the week.

What a lovely subdivision Lorrie -- something pretty in every picture. I love the split rail fence covered with lichens, and the charming little garden. I do like their solutions for deer and rabbit prevention. :) It looks like you live in a beautiful area!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit earlier this week, my friend, and I hope you've had a great day.
Big hugs,
Denise at Forest Manor
What a nice area to hike, and I like the turquoise truck. Should I know who Farmer Roy is or did you make that name up? A nice photo.
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking to Mosaic Monday.
We really have had a wonderful start to our fall weather wise. Glad you could get out for an Urban hike. We have our deck door open right not at 7:00 pm...delightful!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful on your island., lovely Fall. Still warm here in western Oregon ... Where we are now. That is OK with us, but in hope we get some good Autumn color soon?
ReplyDeleteFor a moment there I thought that you'd turned your spouse into a pillar of salt like Lot's wife :)
ReplyDeleteLovely images of a beautiful day! :)
Thanks for taking us along. The apples look inviting....and fabulous colour!
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday!
Your photos are beautiful, Lorrie! I loved especially the apples. And I too would be interested to know who is Farmer Roy...
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week!
What a wide variety of interesting objects you came across on your hike, Lorrie. That old, aqua truck is beautiful, as is the feeling in the last photo of fall foliage and cozy cottages.

Farmer Roy? Must Foogle. I'd prefer rain to fall during the week leaving the weekends alone; however, it fell during the week and most of the weekend, too. How nice to take a stroll in the neighborhoods and see some new ideas right in your own community.
ReplyDeleteYou are having lovely weather out your way Lorrie and it looks perfect for hiking Victoria. Our daughter and family live in Sooke and they spend as much time as they can outside.
ReplyDeleteHI Lorrie,
ReplyDeleteLove the photos of your hike, especially the ones of the red apples and blue pick up truck. Your neighborhood looks beautiful!
Hugs,
Cheryl
Good Morning Lorrie, what a lovely area to hike and enjoy . . . and such a beautiful autumn day. It doesn't get much better than that:)
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely Monday.
Your blogging sister,Connie :)
Beautiful scenery ... what a lovely hike! Love the fences and the cows (love their brown eyes). Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! I really like Farmer Roy. A man of few words, I bet. Beautiful fall scenes. Love the cattle.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful place for hiking with so much to see.
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful walk! The weather this time of year is just perfect for that kind of endeavor. Love the old pickup. We had one for a while on our Grey Havens acreage (previous home), and it was even the same color! That was back in the day long before digital cameras, and I don't think I even have a snapshot of it. It was a bit of a junker, but we picked it up for a good price & it helped us with our chores around the property. Later on, we were able to sell it for what we paid, LOL.
ReplyDeleteWell I prefer it to rain at the weekends so I can cosy up in the house, depressing I know, but any excuse to rest after a hefty week is always a bonus! What a great trip out. I do love the colour of the truck too! Have a great week x
ReplyDeleteLovely images from your walk.. I love the apples and the shot of you with the statue.. The aqua truck is cool, I love the color.. Great images, have a happy week!
ReplyDeleteThis weather has been a little hard to believe. Every weekend we tell ourselves to "make the most of it because it could be the last" but it never is.
ReplyDeleteI am surprised to see so much in an urban hike...such delights around every corner
ReplyDeleteA charming walk - I really enjoyed it. And I agree - our weather is fabulous - seems another week of nice temperatures is in store for us - hurray.
ReplyDeleteLovely...your urban trails! We rode the Lochside trail from the ferry to Victoria and back a few years ago. We had the perfect weather and quite enjoyed the route! Haven't we just had the best weather this year?
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE no rain on the weekends too -- although I would want at least one or two of the weekdays to have some blue sky and sunshine:)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a nice hike!
Blessings, Aimee
Your weather looks perfect for a nice walk. It was nice to see this lovely neighbourhood. I prefer rain through the week of course. :)
ReplyDeleteYou live in beautiful surroundings! Must have been a great hike -- such fabulous weather we had this weekend, really a bonus!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I would love an apple and the pickup too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pleasant hike you had. I liked seeing you with Farmer Roy. Some really nice photos.
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful area for a hike Lorrie!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful your Indian summer is carrying on and on - I hope we're in for the same down under!
The blue pickup truck is a beauty - I would have photographed it too!
I've really enjoyed accompanying you on your 'urban hike'!!
Hugs
Shane
What a fun hike through the suburbs - I need to do more of this!
ReplyDeleteGreat pic of you Lorrie -
Hugs - Mary
That's a really nice urban neighborhood. The weather has been great here in Virginia as well (though we can use a little more rain).
ReplyDeleteI am SO LATE per usual Lorrie, but I finally made it, and happy that I did. Very lovely shares!
