I wish we could have spent more time in Vienna. What we did see was beautiful. Music plays a huge part of the culture there as can be seen by this wonderfully creative lawn display. I think the keyboard flower beds are a stroke of genius.
My mom and I went to a concert one night. Violins, piano, cello, viola and percussion players treated us to Strauss and Mozart. Several pieces were sung as well, and a couple of them had dancers. I thoroughly enjoyed the way the artists all seemed to really love what they were doing. The room in the Kursalon was beautiful - crystal chandeliers, fresh flowers and pale walls and woodwork.
Here we are waiting for the concert to begin.
The next day we walked along the Danube canal in a very pretty city park. It happened to be a holiday so not many people were out and about. I find green spaces in cities utterly restful and restorative.
Happy 4th of July to all my American friends. Summer's in full swing here and I'm loving it!
