Photo Storage Fees

Just a quick post to ask a question - several bloggers have said they've paid $5 per year to Google and upgraded their photo storage. When I click on the options, I'm offered $2.49 per month for 25 GB or $4.99 per month for 100 GB.

I would be happy to pay the yearly $5 but somehow the monthly fee rankles. I don't want the hassle ( and yes, I know I could do an automatic charge), but still....

Am I missing something? Where do you go to find the yearly fee? Or has it all changed?

  1. Lorrie, I am nearly my capacity as well and have been looking at this. I do believe at one time it was $5.00 a year. I recently checked it out and I saw the monthly charge. It seems they may have changed it. Like you I don't really want to deal with a monthly charge. Let me know if you find out anything new.

  2. I've heard that it changed and that those who got in on the $5 will finish out their year and then it'll be what you said. It's probably looking better all the time with all the work you're doing with photo resizing.

  3. I have no idea what they are charging at all since I re-sized all my photos before uploading them to my blogs.

    Good luck with this issue!

  4. Yes, Lorrie, there are now only monthly storage fees available - I wrote a long comment here on Tammy's recent question about Google storage, you and your readers may want to look at it. Anyone who uploads a lot of pics and uses them in a blog will eventually require extra storage in Picasa. It's owned now by Google - they want to make money!!!!!!

Check at Tammy's for my rather lengthy comment here -

I've purchased the $4.99 monthly rate for 100GB of storage, automatic on a credit card, that way I will have one less technical thing to be stressing over, hopefully!

  5. I've been meaning to pop by your blog for sometime now. Thanks for all your visits and nice comments, Lorrie!
As for storage on Blogger, after April 2012 there are only monthly fees. I purchased my extra space long time ago and still pay the yearly fee. Even if I do resize each and every pic I post, my blog is very visual...
You could easily pay the bills automatically with a credit card, that's how I pay my yearly fee.
    Hope this helps! Good luck.

  6. Mine is an older plan, although only a year or so, and it was at $5, but this year's renewal notice was accompanied by a warning that if I let this lapse it would no longer be available. I find the Google-customer interfaces offputting, quite honestly, but so far the price is right. . .

  7. Oh, this monthly charge scares me a bit. I have paid a yearly fee a few times now... I guess things are changing...

Thank you for your comment. I read and value each one, cherishing the connections we can make although far apart. Usually, I visit your blog in return, although if you ask a question I try to contact you directly.
