Art journaling is something I like to do, I want to do, but I never seem to get around to actually doing. So I packed colored pencils and a few markers along with the sunscreen and swimsuit on our recent vacation. And I completed these two pages during the week and the week after our return.
Drawing and coloring is relaxing. I think about the patterns and the colors, and my mind wanders - I puzzle over whatever random questions pop up in my mind, I mull over family situations good and bad, prayer comes often to mind. I think I need to make more time for journaling.

Visit - and enjoy.
Wow, Lorrie, these pages are lovely! Sounds like it comes easily to you. I'd say this is doodling at its best! Very pretty mosaic!
ReplyDeleteLorrie - you manage to do so much - so much that is original and thoughtful. I'd like to take a page from your book (not this one - the figurative one!) and make the time to something similar. I realize that this is a choice that you make, and I just have to look at my priorities.
ReplyDeleteWow, great artwork! Sounds like it was a vacation of special reflective moments, cherished thoughts, glimpses of time filled with relaxing dreams.
ReplyDeleteLorrie, those are wonderful and colorful. Do you do art cards too?
ReplyDeleteVery pretty artwork. Thanks for sharing. Karie
ReplyDeleteLorrie I can see how creative you are and can just picture the wonderful things you will be making for your dear granddaughter. She'd love to look at your birds and flowers. Will you be painting them for her? I decided to share my mug rugs tonight - thanks to your suggestion.
ReplyDeleteYour sketches are very pretty, Lorrie, and the process of art journaling is a proven way to open creative and problem solving juices. Stay with it!
ReplyDeleteMeditation through art or art through meditation?
ReplyDeleteEither way it sounds like very good therapy to me.
Your drawings are delightful, is there no end to your talents?
What a nice idea, your journal is lovely, love your artwork and what a great place to ponder things, and look back! Makes a beautiful mosaic, I love it!
ReplyDeletehow wonderful to have time to sit and draw. Maybe one day I will take it up again myself. Until then my camera will do. Thankyou for sharing your sketches and for coming to my blog.
ReplyDeleteWhy do we tuck away our need to be creative, for the busy lives? I think we tend to feel as though it really doesn't matter, until we just do it and then, then we remember how soothing and needed it really is; especially when we're doing it hand in Hand with our own Creative Maker.

I like your art ;)
Good job, Lorrie. I'm afraid my artwork wouldn't be much of a keepsake but it might be fun to try drawing instead of writing sometime...especially on a warm beach with waves lapping nearby.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely idea! I have a spotty history in journaling, and even spottier in drawing and doodling. You are so astute to recognize how they are really linked forms of expression. And I always find art to be a conduit for prayer.
ReplyDeleteComme tu dessines bien ! Tu pourrais illustrer des livres pour enfants !
ReplyDeleteYour "doodling" is wonderful! I'd be happy to call that my fine art!
ReplyDeleteNice doodles!
ReplyDeleteLorrie,

ReplyDeleteYour journals are so beautiful they should be published Lorrie.

Lovely hand drawn images. We we go on vacation I take a small book and write a daily journal of what we saw, where we visited, weather etc so that I can reread it later on. V
