A Living Room Picnic

Last night our youngest daughter and her boyfriend came over for dinner. It was cold and rainy, and I thought a hot dog roast in the fireplace would be fun. A sand-coloured blanket on the floor stood in for the beach. I pulled up the coffee table and covered it with a warm red runner from Guatemala. Candlelight always makes a table look special.

Here's the gang roasting hot dogs. With them I served oven yam fries with a chipotle dip and a crudité plate. We love our hot dogs with guacamole, which I make with grated onion and finely chopped tomato, lemon juice and salt. Yum! Dessert was brownies topped with ice cream and black forest cherry sauce. Simple and fun!

  14. Oh I love this idea! How much fun that looks like you had. Guacamole on hot dogs... I never would have thought about it, but as much as I love guacamole it would be good to try. I make mine like you except with lime instead of lemon. And a happy, happy, happy birthday! Hope it was your best one yet. I love the journal you are giving away and especially the quote on the front.

    Birthday blessings,
    Christi

  15. I love journals. I need a new one to sketch ideas I want to create when the idea hits me. I carry a camera (and extra batteries) in my purse w/me as well as pretty paper to write on. My fave hot drink is Green Mint Tea with a few of my homegrown lemon balm leaves and honey. I subscribe on the blog and will follow as well.

Traditions Old and New

Oh the rain. It drums down on the skylight. There are great puddles on the streets and sheets of water spray when cars drive through them....
