Ahhhh

Calming relief. The master bedroom is ready for the fun part of decorating. The painting is done - the walls are a soft grey in a suede finish (similar to eggshell). Baseboards and trim in white. The carpet is brand new as of this morning. I see we left one picture on the wall for the carpet layers to admire. I'm sure they felt better for that.

I have all the windows open blowing the fresh air through to waft away that new carpet odour. And here is the door into the ensuite bathroom. Not pretty at all. We stacked our bed, end tables and dresser in there, a chest of drawers in the other bathroom down the hall, and clothes are piled in the dining room. It's a total mess.

But this is calming. And tonight after dinner, we'll put our room back together. I wish I was strong enough to do it all right now on my own. But I'm not, so I'll have to wait. Wrestling with those big pieces of furniture would not help matters at all. Bummer. This is the doorway into the closet, and to the right is the doorway into the hall.

I've discovered I don't do well living in a mess. Although we slept in the fairly put together guest room, I woke up at night in a panic at the thought of the chaos throughout the house.

Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny, so we'll be out in the yard, if I can stop puttering away in my new space. What are your weekend plans?

I think I came across your blog via embroidery something or other. At any rate, I enjoy checking in every few days to see how you're coming along with your new home. You may have answered this question long ago on your blog, but I'm wondering what caused you to move?

I live in Salida, a small town in Colorado. We built our house almost two years ago and it took awhile for it to feel like home.

Looking forward to your next photos!

  3. Hi Lorrie - You are so ambitious to be doing all this work as well as working on your studies. You were wise to wait to move the furniture - hope that your bedroom is aired out and ready to sleep in soon. Have fun decorating!

  4. Good Morning Lorrie!!

Yippee--so glad that you are making progress! I know it bothers you as much as it does me to have so much going on that needs to be done.

I had planned on some outside projects today but it all depends on this fickle East TN weather! We are in full preparation for our Annual Family Reunion, so I am bounching off the walls trying to tie up alot of loose ends in the remodeling area of the farmhouse right now.

I am waiting on my Bro-in-law to finish up his pool landscaping, to get the plumbing installed in the new powder room that we have added to the farmhouse. I have been PATIENTLY waiting on that for about 6 weeks now...hummmmmmmmm...In his defense, he "wears too many hats" around here too! Not only is he a plumber but he is an electrician, carpenter, and telecommunications whiz! So, I am being kind..LOL

I do hope you have a great weekend! The bedroom is going to be gorgeous!

  6. Hi Dear friend,

I am catching up. First of all, congrats to Ashley and Owen. What a romantic setting. Loved the pictures. What beautiful memories they will have.

Where is your new house? I love the color of the walls. We talk about painting but that is as far as we get. One of these days....

Can you believe another granddaughter? I am so excited. The kids say this will be their last.... famous last words-hehe.

    Have a Blessed Mother's Day.

    Big hugs,
    Barb

  8. That was a heartfelt 'ahhhh'!
By now your bedroom is probably all put together and you'll be sleeping in your own bed. I know what you mean about the chaos causing you to feel panicked. The Great Dane is laid up with an injury and I am in a state about the outdoors - weeding and mowing and tidying and heavy pails of soil to be moved - I'm just not big and strong enough to do it alone, but if I divide the chores up into small bits.........
Meant to say - love that silvery grey!

  14. I love grey as a paint color. It is such a warm neutral. What fun to have a blank canvas to design around.

Traditions Old and New

Oh the rain. It drums down on the skylight. There are great puddles on the streets and sheets of water spray when cars drive through them....
