Blogtober Twenty-Seven

October

The summer is over,

The trees are all bare,

There is mist in the garden

And frost in the air.

The meadows are empty

And gathered the sheaves --

But isn't it lovely

Kicking up leaves!

Rose Fyleman

No frost yet, but plenty of rain. A morning that couldn't make up its mind whether to be sunny or wet has decided on...wet.

The Beef Stew with Quince that I made turned out very well. There were a few minor variations on the recipe, but it was delicious and different. My brother and sister-in-law enjoyed it with us.

We are away from home again this evening, taking an unexpected and quick trip to see friends across the border. The ferry crossing was a mixture of sun and rain, just like the rest of the day. Staying the night at my parents' place. It's always good to visit with them.

  1. What a fabulous old gate that has seen many comings and goings I’m sure. Pink sky this morning I think we usually say shepherds warning. Hopefully it will stay dry. Enjoy your visit. How long does the crossing take ?

    1. Our crossing is only 1.5 hours - much shorter than yours! Plus the waiting time before boarding.

  2. Dearest Lorrie,
No doubt in your area the summer is over with. Here not yet as it remains balmy warm weather above 25°C with cooler nights.
What a blessing for being able to visit your Parents!
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  5. I hope you had a most enjoyable weekend and enjoyed your time with your parents and your friends. We could use some rain over here. Although I am enjoying the sunny days immensely.

Traditions Old and New

Oh the rain. It drums down on the skylight. There are great puddles on the streets and sheets of water spray when cars drive through them....
